Spiritual Practice

Analyzing Events from a Spiritual Perspective
by Gordon Davidson and Corinne McLaughlin

Watch or read the news with a new lens, reflecting on problems and crises from a spiritual perspective:

  1. Examine the inner, spiritual forces at work behind events and meditate on the question: What are the deeper causes or karma of an event or crisis?

  2. Observe the spiritual lessons being learned by those involved in an event or crisis--as well as by each of us:

    bullet

    analyze the symbolism of  the event to discern a deeper, spiritual message;

    bullet

    understand the meaning of the event by identifying with all the participants involved;

    bullet

    develop compassion and love for all those directly involved in the event or crisis;

    bullet

    reflect on how the event serves a larger purpose in human evolution.

  3. Note the coincidence of the timing of events and crises (including natural disasters) with collective human thoughts and emotions.  Can you identify any causal relationship?

If you have explored many spiritual paths and are purely motivated and open-minded in your quest, you will eventually penetrate behind the veil of any conventional religious tradition to the inner, esoteric core at its heart. There you will discover the deeper teachings of the Ageless Wisdom.
cally prosperous and socially just.
